Maryland meeting property converts to wind power

The Legacy Hotel and Meeting Center in Rockville, Md., is switching to 100-percent wind power electricity to be provided by Clean Currents. Through that firm's Green Your Stay program, the property also will offer guests the opportunity to offset the carbon emissions associated with their visit.

"More and more businesses are coming to understand that technology exists today to dramatically cut GHG emissions that cause global warming," said Gary Skulnik of Clean Currents.

The 160-room Legacy features more than 9,000 square feet of meeting space and the capacity for 260 attendees.

In another eco-conscious move, the Legacy will place recycling bins in all of its guest rooms and use biodegradable and organic cleaning solutions and detergents.
